SCTA Hands Over Three Pieces of Antiquities to Egypt


Riyadh, February 21, 2010, SPA -- Saudi Commission for Tourism and
Antiquities (SCTA) has handed over to the visiting delegation of the Egyptian
Antiquities Higher Council, Three pieces of antiquities detected by the Saudi
authorities.


The delivery of the antiquities, which were earlier illegally smuggled into the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, took place at King Abdulaziz Historical Center here in
the presence of Egyptian ambassador to the Kingdom Mahmoud Auf and a number of
officials.


In a press statement, Dr Ali al-Ghabban, the Vice-President of SCTA, said the
delivery of the antiquities pieces comes in line with the instructions of
Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Riyadh region, and in line with
the agreement of protection of cultural properties.


He reiterated the keenness of the Kingdom on adherence to the agreement.


On his part, the Egyptian ambassador said this development takes place within
the framework of the existing distinguished relations between the Kingdom and
Egypt in all domains notably in the cultural domain.


He praised the approval of the Kingdom to hand over the pieces following the
Egyptian request.


The ambassador hoped that cooperation will continue between the two countries
in the field of antiquities.
