Kazakh-American forum Focuses on Corruption Countermeasures
Astana, 26 June 2008, Khabar - Forum on state-private partnership. A first Kazakh-American forum in Astana has focused on corruption countermeasures, regional integration, Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO, partnership between the state and business and many other issues.
The United States is currently
the largest investor in the Kazakh economy as its capital injections totaled
17 billion US dollars in 2007. American companies are keen on introducing
advanced technology and are attracted by the country's good business
prospects, economic and political stability, convenient location and natural
resources.
However, US Chamber of Commerce, international experts and top
managers of big enterprises are also set to settle contacts in the non raw
material sector.
An on-line conference in which anybody could question Karim
Massimov closed the forum. The conference showed that US businessmen want to
know whether customs procedures would be eased, what measures Kazakhstan
undertakes to promote small and medium-sized business, and how to get rid of
administrative barriers.
Karim Massimov, Prime Minister of RK:
- In terms of the 30 corporate leaders' scheme and the development of
infrastructure, boosting investments and reducing barriers all of which go
alongside the scheme, we decided to develop corporate leaders on market
conditions. Originally, these were small companies which want to or already
participate in such programmes. We welcome greater American companies'
presence in the non raw material sector of economy.
Azat Peruashev, chairman of "Atameken" national economic chamber of
Kazakhstan:
- The main goal of this forum is to develop inter relations and be useful
for each other and have transparent, cultural and civilized relations
between business and state. In our country private business has a rights to
defend its rights in Parliament, government and working groups on discussion
of legal acts and it is very good. This format must be advanced. (Khabar Agency)
