Samsung suffers power outage in semiconductor plant

SEOUL, March 24 (Yonhap) -- A sudden power outage took place Wednesday at the
semiconductor plant of Samsung Electronics in Giheung, Gyeonggi Province.

The power supply was cut around 2:30 p.m. at the plant's K2 and K5 section and
was resumed at 3:35 and 5:38 p.m. at the K2 and K5 sections, respectively,
Samsung officials said.
The operation of core facilities was not interrupted, as the plant was supplied
with electricity through an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system immediately
after the blackout took place, Samsung officials said, adding they are
investigating the exact cause of the blackout and the scope of its damage to
production.
