Kazakh-American defence cooperation
Astana, April 06, 2010 (Khabar) - Commander of the US Central Command David Petraeus has arrived in Astana. And he had a meeting with Kazakh defence minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov. The sides discussed issues of training Kazakh servicemen at American educational institutions. The President of the United States of America awarded the deputy minister for defence of Kazakhstan and general lieutenant Bulat Sembinov with the “Legion of Honour” medal for his contribution to the support in such operations as “Enduring Freedom” and “Iraqi Freedom”. The medal was presented by David Petraeus.
The American general mentioned that 100 joint operations are scheduled to take place this year with the “Steppe Eagle” peacekeeping tactical exercises being one of the most significant among them.

- Kazakhstan can be proud of its contribution to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. He noted that the USA and Kazakhstan have strong relations in this area and work together on nuclear security and the protection of nuclear facilities where Kazakhstan is believed to be a reliable partner.
