BIODIESEL PLANT IN BIREUEN TO OPERATE THIS YEAR

Banda Aceh, Aceh, April 10 (ANTARA) - A biodiesel and ethanol plant under construction in Beunyot village, Juli subdistrict, Bireuen regency, Aceh province, is scheduled for operation in the middle of this year.

Bireuen regent Nurdin AR said in Bireuen on Friday the biodiesel and ethanol plant is built with assistance of the social affairs ministry to produce alternative fuel oil to replace fossiel fuel oil.

"The biodiesel and etahnol plant which uses castor oil, sugar cane and oil palm fruits, would start operating only after it managed to secure power generators and scales," he said.

Nurdin added that the plant will also provide lots of employment.

In the meantime, deputy governor of Aceh Muhammad Nazar said the plant could be run optimally, so that the production of agricultural produce could be fully handled by the plant.
