President thanks all regions of the republic for their presents for Astana
Astana, 5 July 2008, Khabar - Nursultan Nazarbayev thanked all the regions of the Republic for their presents for Astana whilst on a trip around the capital city.
Astana has become the centre of attention of the whole of the
Republic thanks to every region of the country. The Zhambyl region of
Kazakhstan presented Astana a monument to Soviet Union hero, Commander
Baurzhan Momyshuly. The sculpture is over four metres in height and weighs 2.5 tonne.
The bronze monument is situated on the intersection of Momyshuly
and Tokpanov streets with 54 pine trees planted around as well as new lawns,
pathways of red stone and street lamps.
The President was also happy to see
the presents from his home area - the Almaty region - which erected a
monument to the great akyn Zhambyl Zhabayev which is now situated on
Tashenov Street. The 12-metre sculpture is made of 11 blocks of special
granite brought from the Kurtinsk deposit. Apart from the monument, the
region's builders also built a park situated on an area of more than 3.5
hectares.
Walking amongst young trees in the park, people will be able to
see stone tigers, leopards and mythological birds. The Akmola region also
presented Astana amemorial complex devoted to Aliya Moldagulova situated on
the 9th of May and Victory streets. The four-metre bronze monument is
surrounded with fountains, granite piers and gardens. The President's trip
around the city ended on Saryarka Street where the West Kazakhstan region
has erected the "Eurasia" Monument and laid out a park.

- I want to thank you all the regions, districts, akimats for their work
with heart, for their gifts to our capital. Astana is symbol of our state,
and watching it, the regional centers also develop. Then we will continue to
overhaul settlements and villages to make the country beautiful.
This place symbolises a bridge spanning Europe and Asia as the architectural
design depicts two leaves united with a shanyrak - the symbol of
