Conference of overseas Korean biz leaders to open this week

SEOUL, April 11 (Yonhap) -- Hundreds of Korean business leaders from around the
world will get together this week in South Korea to discuss their views on how to
enhance their home country's international competitiveness and engage in export
negotiations, organizers said Sunday.
The World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Association (World-OKTA), a
gathering of 6,200 Korean businesspeople worldwide, will hold the four-day event
from Tuesday in the central city of Daejeon, together with the city government
and Yonhap News Agency.
The conference is expected to bring together 700 Korean business leaders from 111
cities in 60 countries.
At the conference, 12th of its kind, the Korean businesspeople are expected to
discuss ways to strengthen the international network of Korean business leaders
and cooperation between themselves.
The event will also offer 1,000 Korean companies abroad opportunities to engage
in export talks with small- and medium-sized firms operating in South Korea,
supported by the regional government and the state-run Korea International Trade
Association, the organizers said.
World-OKTA Chairman Steven Koh, Yonhap News Agency CEO Park Jung-chan and other
figures will attend the opening ceremony for the event on Tuesday.
