State export insurer provides coverage for TV animation series

SEOUL, April 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's state export insurer said Tuesday that
it has provided coverage for an adventure TV animation series made by a South
Korean private company that is expected to be aired in Asian countries this year.
The coverage will be worth 800 million won (US$710,000) and protect financial
institutions that funded the production of the "Mix Master 2" animation series by
Sunwoo Entertainment, the Korea Export Insurance Corp. said.
The animation is scheduled to air on May 19 in the country, and be made up of 39
episodes. Hong Kong's Turner Entertainment has agreed to purchase the series and
broadcast it to 25 Asian countries.
"The coverage marks the first time that the corporation has used its cultural
export insurance policy to help market an animation series," a press release
said.
It said the decision to cover the series comes after the success of the 2005 "Mix
Master 1" animation that was popular in the United States and Europe.
The insurer said that in addition to the animation series, Mix Master has market
potential because characters can be used to make toys, games and other products.
