Jubilee session of International Assembly of capitals and cities
Astana, July 7, 2008, Khabar - Forum of Jubilee session of International Assembly of capitals and cities is continued in Astana. Jubilee session "Capitals of 21st century: innovation and tradition in architecture and city construction" was held.
Delegates from over cities of CIS came and searched
the ways of solution of common problems for post-Soviet countries. Session was held in new trade-exhibition Center of international trade.
Guests from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Ukraine and other CIS states saw the development of Astana.
International Assembly of capitals and cities united 72 cities.
Imangali Tasmagambetov, mayor of Astana told about main
achievements of young capital. Population of capital rose three times during
10 years, foreign trade turnover - 38 times, exploitation of new dwelling -
15 times, investments inflow - 25 times. The mayor said Astana plans to join
30 most competitive cities of the world that are favorable for business.
And he added such forums help to achieve grand tasks. Imangali Tasmagambetov, mayor of Astana:
- It is demonstration of participation of large cities into reforms and
realization of national projects, solution of tasks on dwelling, cultural
heritage and other priorities. Of course, the forum will allow the
businessmen to demonstrate their projects, programs in all spheres of city
life. Opening of additional vacancies, realization of social programs,
realization of our cooperation in framework of International Assembly of
capitals and cities.
Karim Massimov, Prime Minister of RK reminded the participants about plans
of Astana construction. He said the capital is a unique ground for everybody
who wants to realize his great projects.

- Astana becomes the city of great possibilities, center of attraction of
energetic, ambitious and active people. World famous architects, such as
Kise Kurokawa, Norman Foster and many others realized their interesting
plans here. Astana's architecture is innovation and traditions of
Kazakhstani, Eurasian and world city construction. Style of city combines
values of Western and Oriental cultures.
Mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov said he watches development of Astana with a
special attention and takes some advantage form it.
Yuri Luzhkov, mayor of Moscow:
- I often visit this city and I watch with great attention and use all the
stages of development of city system that are realized under the direct
management of President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev. I
can say that Astana has the unique main architect and main organizer of city
development, President of Kazakhstan. Astana is still the symbol of
Kazakhstan.
The forum will also contain such themes as roads, transport and
