Official sitting in honor of capital's anniversary
Astana, July 7, 2008, Khabar - From Nursultan Nazarbayev and his colleagues went to the Palace of Peace and Concord. Honorary guest King of Jordan, Abdullah II joined them there. The official sitting in honor of capital's anniversary was held in Pyramid.
The head of the state summed up the results of 10 -year history of Kazakhstan with new political and administrative center.
Debut of Astana is victory of whole Kazakhstan, but
first of all, Nursultan Nazarbayev. He proved the whole world that our
republic can achieve success and flourishing.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of RK:
- Every state has its symbols when naming them, the hearts of citizens begin
to beat stronger and souls fill with pride and dignity. Astana is such
symbol for us.
Nursultan Nazarbayev reminded the beginning of history and said the
necessity of capital shifting was caused with first of all strategic
interests of nation. It concerns geopolitical, social-economic, and
spiritual-historic aspects. The head of the state says phenomenon of Astana
is unique historical event without any analogues in the whole world.

- At the beginning of 1990-s when the economic situation in the country was
rather difficult, we most of all needed belief in our own forces. We needed
the belief that we can make Kazakhstan powerful and flourishing state. Just
at that time I began thinking about new capital that will personify endless
possibilities of Kazakhstani people. Shifting of capital had to strengthen
geopolitical positions of Kazakhstan. Shifting of capital to the city, that
is on joint of main routes was dictated with necessity of rising of
Kazakhstan's economy, wish of creating multi active effect for raise of
whole economy. Having shifted the capital to multination region, we
confirmed the course for forming of stable poly ethnic state where the main
task is preservation of international concord. The history of new
Kazakhstani capital and whole country began in this way.
In history 10 years is just a moment. But the President said, in case with
Astana it is deep processes that changed life of whole Kazakhstan very much
and its multinational people.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of RK:
- Creating of new capital ended the construction of new Kazakhstani state
system. New capital became the most important stage in self-defining of
Kazakh nation, which passed many-century way of development from nomadic
orda till modern republic. Astana helped to renew the state elite and began
the forming of new class of managers, which are free from spots of Soviet
red-tape. Astana became the model of social-economic development for the
whole Kazakhstan. (Khabar Agency)
Astana achieved impressive results in economic development during 10 years.
annual gross output rose 50 times, volume of industrial production - 7
times, salary - 6, inflow of investments -22 times. Share of Astana in GDP
of republic increased to 10%. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of RK says
shifting of capital positively influenced the development of human
resources. Astana showed we can solve almost all the tasks.
Many unique projects were realized in Astana - architecture and construction
of engineer communications, medicine, industry, innovational sphere. Young
forest was planted around the capital, its area will be about 6 000 hectares
soon. Astana attracted most talented and purposeful, progressive
Kazakhstanis.

- Astana laid the beginning of new tradition of Kazakhstan - tradition to
build and win. Astana is a bridge to the future of Kazakhstani people that
is built by all of us. By 2010 GDP of capital will rise at least twice,
industrial production - 3,5 times, investments into main capital - 1,5
times. In 2015 over one million people will live in Astana. It will be large
modern and comfortable megapolis. Astana is power of new Kazakhstan and
source of forming energy of its multinational people. Astana is symbol of ho
pes and confidence in future of all our citizens. It is our city. It is our
capital. It is our Astana.
The foreign guests highly valued the development of Astana. They said,
Dmitry Medvedev, President of Russia:
- Sure, enormous labor of Kazakhstani people and their leader, President
Nursultan Nazarbayev shows such impressive results. All of us know that he
put not only his labor, but also his soul into this city. And today we must
