Many Aussies hate paying tax: poll

Australians have been outed as a bunch of misers - who whinge about paying tax and
wouldn't pay more, even to help pensioners.
A poll found that 61 per cent of people think Australians pay too much tax.
Just four per cent thought Australians should pay more.
And most people would not pay a cent more GST, even if it went straight to
hospitals, pensioners or roads.
A majority of respondents in the Essential Report poll of 1000 people, issued on
Tuesday, were happier to see their tax go to health and hospitals than to anything
else - but even so they didn't want to pay more.
