Dongkuk Steel to raise ship plate price on increased costs

SEOUL, April 29 (Yonhap) -- Dongkuk Steel Mill Co., South Korea's third-biggest
steelmaker, said Thursday that it will raise its domestic price of steel plates
used in shipbuilding by 9.8 percent to reflect increased costs of raw materials.
The price of the steel product will be raised by 80,000 won (US$72) to 900,000
won per ton starting in May, the company said.
Earlier this week, its bigger domestic rivals -- POSCO Co. and Hyundai Steel Co.
-- raised prices of steel products by as much as 25 percent to reflect increased
costs of raw materials such as iron ore and coal.
