Yemen, Netherlands discuss cooperation in monitoring tenders

SANA'A, April 28 (Saba)
- Yemen and the Netherlands discussed here on Wednesday cooperation in fields of
bids
and tenders and how to be monitored.
The Supreme Authority for Monitoring Tenders (SAMT) head Abdul-Malik al-Arashi
along with a Dutch delegation charged with chairing the working group II of the
Yemen Friends
Group on justice and the rule of law discussed the possibility of supporting the
authority's efforts in training areas to promote transparency principle in tenders
and bids
sector.
The officials approved the required procedures to be implemented by the authority
during the period of May-September 2010 and the mechanism to implement them in
order to
be showed in the ministerial conference, which is to be held soon in New York on the
sidelines of Yemen Friends Group meeting.
Al-Arashi reviewed the Tender Law as well as the main objectives of forming the
monitoring authority and the Higher Committee for Tenders (HCT) and their role in
reducing
corruption and in various tenders sectors at the local and central levels.
In return, the delegation affirmed that the authority will get the donors' support
and care, showing the Netherlands readiness to provide the authority with the
necessary
assistance to be able to implement its tasks.
