Colour on the Logie red carpet

Molly Meldrum brought his dog, an attention seeker stomped on his guitar and
pregnant Natalie Bassingthwaighte shone in J'Aton.
But the biggest cheers on the Logie red carpet went to sentimental Gold statuette
favourite Ray Meagher.
Meagher embraced fellow hot favourite Rebecca Gibney, who wore a midnight blue
Steven Khalil gown.
"I don't know what people expect - if they expect us to be throwing stones at one
another," the Home and Away star said.
The veteran actor said he was enjoying the limelight.
"I'm used to scampering around the sides," said Meagher, whose 2010 Logie
nominations are the first of his 40-year television career.
Gibney's Packed To The Rafters co-stars, on and off screen couple Jessica Marais and
James Stewart looked dashing as they walked the carpet for the first time together.
Meldrum wore his trademark hat but carried his new favourite accessory, a fluffy
white dog called Ziggy 4.
Guest presenter and red carpet host Ruby Rose was among the first to brave
flashbulbs in a short Toni Maticevski black and silver mini-dress, designed
especially for her.
Rose said she wasn't worried about what the critics made of it.
"I don't get too precious about these things, if I get on the worst dressed list I'm
happy, if I get on the best dressed list I'm happy," she told reporters.
Brynne Gordon, the wife of Dr Geoffrey Edelsten, was an early entry to the worst
dressed list in a scarlet French silk tutu dress with jewelled shoulders.
The 26-year-old had a hand in designing the dress, which was made by Xen, a friend
of hers, in the past four days, and recycled jewels from her wedding gown.
MasterChef Australia judge Matt Preston wore a black velvet suit and trademark
colourful cravat named `Emma' as he posed with the show's first winner Julie
Goodwin.
Kerri-Anne Kennerley raised huge cheers from the crowd in a pale blue Alex Perry
jewelled gown.
So You Think You Can Dance host Natalie Bassingthwaighte was amongst the best
dressed as she led the J'Aton charge.
"Each week my belly was expanding so they literally got started on it on Thursday,"
Bassingthwaighte said.
"I think it's my favourite thing I've worn, but maybe that's just because I'm
pregnant and I'm feeling so ahhh."
There was plenty of action on the carpet as attendees fought for the spotlight.
Two actors from ABC's new I Rock show wore sunglasses as they posed, and one stomped
on a guitar, while Red Symons told the crowd to "get stuffed".
Bindi Irwin, accompanied by mother Terri, turned the tables on the media asking to
have her photo taken with them for a billboard at her upcoming red carpet 12th
birthday event.
So You Think You Can Dance judge Jason Coleman wore a red hat, and sparkling shoes,
saying he "wanted to stand out", while Today gossip guru Richard Reid opted for
shiny black platform shoes.
Georgie Parker and Patti Newton showed the younger generation you don't have to
spend a fortune to look red carpet ready.
Parker's dress, from retail chain Katies, was worth less than $100, while Newton
teamed an Italian sequined jacket with a black top from Portmans.
"You just don't need to spend half your yearly salary," Parker said.
There was a mix of styles and fashion on the carpet, from short dresses to long
gowns, colours, metallics and beading.
The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies wore a necklace worth $149,000, while Underbelly
3 star Sigrid Thornton showed up some of her younger counterparts, baring her legs
in a short black lace dress.
