NINE MALAYSIAN STUDENTS SHOWCASE INNOVATIONS AT INTEL ISEF 2010 IN CALIFORNIA

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- Nine Malaysians are among 1,611 students from 59 countries showcasing their innovations in research project at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2010 in San Jose, California, which started Tuesday.

Intel Malaysia country manager Ryaz Patel said that for the whole week the
students would share ideas, showcase cutting-edge research and inventions, and
compete for international recognition and more than US$4 million in prizes at
the world’s largest pre-college science competition.

“We are committed to driving and improving education in Malaysia through
active involvement in education programes advocacy and technology access to
inspire and enable tomorrow’s innovators in order to enhance human capital
development in Malaysia," Patel said in a statement here Tuesday.

He said projects from Malaysia included a fertility booster, which suggests
an additional method to treat infertility, by Muhammad Adib Abas of Sekolah
Menengah Sains (government secondary science school) Sultan Muhammad Jiwa

There is also self-generated electric fan which can potentially reduce the
amount of electricity consumed, an invention by Muhammad Farid Khosim, Amirul
Mustaqim Roslee and Raja Muhammad Saifullah Raja Omar of the Mara Junior Science
College, Taiping.

Patel said other research projects from participating students worldwide
included topics on climate change, clean energy, autism, cancer, education
reform, aerospace and robotics.
