Vat Sisaket library hall completely restored

VIENTIANE ,24 MAY (KPL) - The four-month restoration of the library hall, locally called as “Hor Tray”, of Vat Sisaket has been completed, said an official.
Deputy Head of the Vat Sisaket Restoration Project, Mr. Bounthieng Siripaphanh, said last Friday that the restoration of Vat Sisaket is among the 21 projects to celebrate the 450th anniversary of Vientiane as the capital of Laos scheduled in November 15-21.
He said that the current works were the restoration of the temple buildings and roofs and ordination hall, as well as the preservation of artifacts, archaeological, treasure books, and stone engravings.
So far this year, the project has completed restoring the monk cell resided by Prince Phetsarath during his monkhood. Prince Phetsarath was a great fighter for national independence of Laos. The work, totally valued at 472 million kip, also included the building of a path to the library.
