Lao leaders plant trees on National Arbour Day

VIENTIANE,01 JUN (KPL) - The Vientiane Capital’s Administration yesterday organized a tree planting ceremony at the Chao Anouvong Public Park on the National Arbor Day, 1 June.
Present at the ceremony were Mr. Choummaly Sayasone, Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and State President, Mr. Thongsing Thammavong, President of the National Assembly, Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, Mr. Sisavath Keobounphanh, Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction, ministers, directors, representatives of mass organisations and Vientiane residents.
In his statement at the ceremony, Mr. Anouphab Tounalom, Vice Mayor of Vientiane said that the aim of today’s tree planting was to protect the environment and to contribute to making the public park rich with more valuable trees.
During the day, only 150 frangipani trees “Champa” trees have been planted in the park.
The plantation of frangipani trees is also a part of the coming celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Lao Front for National Construction.
