KPK BELIEVES ANGGODO MADE UP BRIBERY DOCUMENT

Medan, N Sumatra, June 15 (ANTARA) - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief Mochammad Jasin said he believed the story about money transfers to KPK officials was made up by Anggodo Widjojo.

He said after speaking on anti-gratification at the North Sumatra regional legislative assembly building here on Tuesday he had come to the conviction after hearing statements from a number of witnesses regarding the fabrication of the document dated July 15, 2009.

He referred to statements from Edi Sumarsono and the president director of PT Masaro Radiokom, Putra Nevo, who told him that the document was made up by Anggodo Widjojo and Ary Muladi.

The two persons' statements are enough to be used as evidence regarding the engineering of the alleged bribery case of KPK deputies Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M Hamzah.

The proof is strengthened by the recording that had been heard at the Constitutional Court that clearly explains about the truth of the case, he said.

Bibit and Chandra in their testimony at the trial of Anggodo Widjojo at the Corruption Court in Jakarta on Tuesday denied they had ever received bribes from Anggodo.

They had also said they had never known or met directly with Anggodo before.

Bibit, Chandra and Ade Rahardja also a KPK official had been suspected of receiving money in instalments totaling Rp5.1 billion from businessman Anggoro Widjojo which was handed over by his brother Anggodo Widjojo and Ari Muladi.

Ari Muladi initially confessed handing over the money to KPK officials but he later retracted his statement saying that he gave the money to a man named Yulianto who knew KPK officials. Until now the whereabouts of Yulianto is not yet known.***1***
