GENEVA, June 15 (Itar-Tass) - The number of refugees who have fled
violent clashes in Osh and other cities in southern Kyrgyzstan reached
275,000, UNHCR spokesman Andrej Mahecic told reporters on Tuesday.
Since June 10 the bloody clashes led to displacement of 200,000 people
inside the country in addition to 75,000 people who fled to Uzbekistan.
At the same time the official noted that the situation is constantly
changing and people continue to cross the border. Thus, for instance,
according to UNICEF, the number of refugees reached 100,000.
UNHCR said on Monday it would send six Il-76 cargo planes that will
carry 40 tonnes of non-food goods for refugees each. The first plane is
expected to arrive in Uzbekistan's Andijan on Wednesday.
