Press conference of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev

Minsk, June 16, 2010 (Khabar) - In Minks, the former Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev commented at press conference on the situation that prevails nowadays in Osh and Jalal-Abad.
According to Bakiyev, Kyrgyzstan’s interim government is not able to stop the bloodshed in Osh and ensure the safety of citizens.

Kurmanbek Bakiyev, a former president of Kyrgyzstan:
- How in such situation can ensure the safety of citizens? Of course, only due to external forces. I call firstly to two brotherly people – Uzbek and Kyrgyz people, I call to stop this bloodshed, for the interim government can not do it. Therefore, only common sense is necessary. Therefore, I would like to once again appeal to the leaders of the CSTO, to show reaction quicker and appropriately to the situation in Kyrgyzstan and help people living in Kyrgyzstan to restore order and stability.

At a press conference in Minsk, Kurmanbek Bakiyev also has said he is not going to return home and engage again in politics. Answering journalists’ questions, how long he intends to stay in Belarus, Kurmanbek Bakiyev said, “I have not thought about it”. He added that he likes Belarus, there are no language problems here and people of Belarus are hospitable.
And Interfax distributed information, Belarus Prosecutor’s General Office dismissed the request of the Kyrgyz side on extradition of Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
