Jakarta, June 16 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday chaired a limited cabinet meeting to discuss preparations for the upcoming G20 Summit in Toronto, Canada, June 26-27, 2010.

"It was a coordinating meeting to discuss preparations for the president's departure for Toronto to attend the G20," Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said at the presidential office after attending the one-hour meeting.

The meeting which was also attended by among others Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa and Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board Gita Wirjawan, also dwelled on proposals to be put forward by Indonesia in the G20 Summit, the minister said.

The president would also visit Turkey during his forthcoming overseas trip, according to Martowardojo.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Julian A Pasha said the Indonesian proposals would be in the nation's interest as well as to ensure global economic and financial stability.

According to Julian, the G20 would discuss the beginning of world economic recovery.

Earlier, President Yudhoyono expressed hope that the European financial crisis would be addressed at the G-20 summit in Toronto, Canada, later this month to prevent it from spreading to other regions.

He expressed the hope during a telephone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at 8.45 pm here on Monday (June 14), presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal confirmed to ANTARA when asked by phone about the telephone communication between the two leaders.

He said Prime Minister Harper called Yudhoyono to discuss preparations for the summit and ask for Indonesia's views for the meeting of leaders from advanced and developing countries including Indonesia.

"The essence was that they discussed preparations (ahead of the meeting) and about the president's views for the G-20 meeting," he said about the communication between the two leaders that lasted for around 10 minutes.
He said, Prime Minister Harper had asked for Yudhoyono's views on issues that needed to be prioritized in the dialogues at the Toronto meeting scheduled fpr the end of this month.
