RCA delegation ends humanitarian visit to Uzbekistan

UAE's Red Crescent Authority (RCA) delegation to Uzbekistan ended its humanitarian mission for Kyrgyz refugees on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek borders. Dr Saleh Al Taei, Secretary General of UAE RCA and head of the delegation to Uzbekistan announced that they will provide drinking water to seven refugee camps for a period of three months under an agreement with contractors from the local market of Uzbekistan.
The RCA delegation handed over to Uzbekistan Ministry of Health medicines worth US$120 thousand, in order to cure patients, as well as to provide the hospital with the necessity medicines to be able to receive more wounded patients.
RCA delegation also held meetings with representatives from "UNICEF", World Health Organisation, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross in the presence of the first secretary of the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
UNICEF representative focused on the needs of refugees especially women and children who make up more than 90 percent of the total number of the people who were displaced into three sectors; psychological support, provision of safe drinking water and health care facilities. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
