VP SURE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY TO GROW 2 PERCENT

Jakarta, June 30 (ANTARA) - Vice President Boediono said he was certain the manufacturing industry in the country would grow by 2 percent this year compared to last year's figure.

"We have significant competitiveness, for example, in ceramic industry with a wide range market segment," the vice president said at a function to open World Ceramic Forum 2010 here on Wednesday.

He said manufacture industry like Ceramic Indonesia had superior design with available materials, raw materials, and energy.

"Therefore, with economic growth of seven to eight percent per year and wide market segment, the national manufacture industry can grow by 1.5 to 2 percent this year from the previous growth," the vice president said.

He said the 2009 crisis had an impact on national industrial growth, and to cause national manufacture industry to grow by 2.52 percent, but it was lower that that of 2008 which was recorded at 4.05 percent.

"In the future the economy will get healthier with the growth of around 7 to 8 percent per year until 2014," the vice president said, adding that with the better national economic growth supported by better investment climate, the national property industry would also be improved.
