Yemen, UNDP discuss fisheries sector development

SANA'A, July 03 (Saba) - Minister
of Fisheries Mohamed Shamlan discussed here on Saturday with Deputy Country Director
of
the UNDP Mohamed Nasseri the joint cooperation in the field of fisheries sector
development in Yemen.
The two sides dealt with major projects to be implemented by the UNDP in Yemen
during the coming period to support the economic diversity, topped by the
contribution to
preparing and implementing the national strategy for fish sector, and establishing
an electronic website of the Ministry of Fisheries on the internet as well as the
completion
of the Fish Information Center project.
In the meeting, Shamlan praised the UNDP's efforts to support the fish sector,
especially the Central Laboratory of Quality in Hodeidah, which would contribute to
improving
the fish products quality.
He stressed the importance of boosting cooperation with the UNDP to implement more
projects needed by the fish sector during the coming period.
For his part, Nasseri voiced the UNDP's readiness to execute many projects that are
necessary to develop the fisheries sector as well as carrying out a training
program
to qualify the Ministry's cadres in the field of strategies preparation.
