Concert of Denis Matsuyev

Astana, July 06, 2010 (Khabar) - The Russian pianist Denis Matsuyev has given a concert devoted to the anniversary of Astana. 35 year old Denis Matsuyev has played in front of the Pope at the Vatican, to the Queen of England in Buckingham Palace and the audiences of the Kremlin and White House have applauded him. At the “Kazakhstan” concert hall, the pianist played the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Franz Liszt, Edvard Grieg and Sergei Rachmaninov.

Denis Matsuyev, pianist:
- Legend says that a secretary lost or forgot to give this work to Pyotr Tchaikovsky and since then, this work has been called the lost one. Six years ago, the Glinka museum in Moscow found this work and presented it to the grandson of Rakhmaninov. Later on, Hawkes Music Publishers published these notes and I was a participant of this process.

The pianist expressed his feelings about Astana.

Denis Matsuyev, pianist:
- I believe that this city is a masterpiece. This fact both gives a reason for admiration and thought. How is it possible to construct such a beautiful city in such a small period of time.

The maestro regrets that because of his working schedule, he was unable to see all the attractions of Astana. He plays over 160 performances per year.
