Interview of newly elected President of Kyrgyzstan
Astana, July 06, 2010 (Khabar) - President of Kyrgyzstan, Roza Otunbayeva has said this before the starting of EAEC summit in Astana in an exclusive interview to our TV channel. Roza Otunbayeva is the first female President in history of Kyrgyzstan and entire Central Asia. This is her first foreign trip after electing as the President and first participation in EAEC summit.
Roza Otunbayeva, President of Kyrgyzstan:
- We study our possibility to join the Customs Union. We created a working group that attentively watches the process of founding of Customs Union. We follow this process. As you know, Kyrgyzstan is the member of WTO, and as soon as Customs Union is founded, we will consider all the conditions, which will be put forward by the Customs Union. With taking into account advantages and defects, presented by the Union we will take our decision on our participation.
Roza Otunbayeva commented on present condition of Kazakhstani-Kyrgyz relations.
Roza Otunbayeva, President of Kyrgyzstan:
- I think fraternal, friendly and allied relations will be continued. Yesterday I had almost one-hour conversation with President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev. We discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including our last troubles. I saw the determination of the President, his will to support us in such days. As always, friend is known in the trouble. Kazakhstan, being the OSCE chairman is well informed about events in our country since April 7, when the interim government was formed. Special representative of President worked in Kyrgyzstan, Foreign Minister visited the republic. Nursultan Abishevich was always in the know and we communicated by telephone. We need very much such a support especially after the tragic events in the south.
At the end of interview Roza Otunbayeva invited the Kazakhstanis to visit Issyk-Kul Lake. She assured the situation is calm there. As for statements of some Kyrgyz politicians concerning Kazakhstani property on the lake’s coast, the President stressed it is not necessary to pay attention to those words as that was just pre-election game.
