Repair teams continue restoring damaged railway in N Caucasus.

MOSCOW, July 12 (Itar-Tass) - Repair teams continue restoration works
at the Achi-Izerbash railway line in the North Caucasus region of Dagestan
where a cargo train was blown up Sunday.
A spokesman for the OAO RZD, the Russian state railway corporation,
said more than a hundred technical experts and five repair echelons are
working at the site of the incident right now.
"The traffic of trains has been suspended provisionally on that line,"
he said.
"Some passenger trains with more than 700 passengers aboard have been
halted and we're providing hot meals and fresh water for the stranded
customers," the spokesman said.
To mitigate the inconveniences for the passengers, the RZD has offered
bus transits to the railway stations where the passengers may take
alternative trains.
Law enforcement agencies say in the meantime the explosive device of a
yet unidentified capacity went off under the locomotive of a cargo train
at 04:15 Sunday at the 2,335th kilometer of the North Caucasus railway
line.
The locomotive and sixteen coaches, including the thirteen ones
carrying grain, cement and foodstuffs slid off the track and overturned as
a result.
