Unique discovery of archeologists

Karaganda, July 15, 2010 (Khabar) - In the burial mound of the Saki kings in the Karkaraly district which dates back to the 6th century BC, scientists have found the remains of a young man or woman together with jewellery, weapons and parts of clothes. All these finds are rich material for research, which could change the modern view of the lifestyle of Saki people.
Scientists started to research the Taldy burial mound last year. Although the burial site was looted in ancient times, researchers were nonetheless able to find several objects. In one of the 8 burial sites, it was possible to find arrowheads, jewellery in the form of animals and decorated in a specific manner. Archeologists believe that the value of this discovery can be compared with the Golden Man at the Issyk burial mound.

Arman Beisenov, expedition leader:
- We have found a lot of conical jewellery made of thin leaf. This jewellery is made of granulated metal, which is supposed to be typical for the huns. Now we have found that saki tribes also used this technology.

Archaeologists are continuing their research and it is planned that the Taldy burial mound will be transformed into a large open air museum complex.
