A heavy storm hit Eastern Kazakhstan

Ust-Kamenogorsk, July 20, 2010, Khabar - Eastern Kazakhstan hit by heavy storm. Heavy rain and a strong wind battered the region’s capital city to cause large trees fall down and damaging overhead power lines. The city’s municipal services are now cleaning up the area while electricians are working to restore the power supply. The Emergency situations department has reported neither destruction nor casualties.

Andrei Katyushin, operator, Ust-Kamenogorsk overhead power lines:
- We have received a lot of calls today. Now, we are working to resume the power supply here and then we are heading for the Mirniy district area and the city airport. Such storms hit our city once a year. Last year, such a storm struck the city in May or June. This time, it has happened in July. We have no reports of damaged substations, only overhead power lines.
