INVESTMENT IN INDONESIA INCREASING



Jakarta, July 28 (ANTARA) - The Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) said domestic and foreign investment in the second quarter of 2010 drastically increased to Rp50.8 trillion from Rp42.1 trillion in the same period a year earlier.

"The increase indicates that the efforts we have been making to meet the investment target for 2010 are not without results," BKPM chief Gita Wirjawan said here on Wednesday.

He said of the total amount of investment reached in the second quarter of this year, Rp35.6 trillion was foreign and Rp15.2 trillion domestic investment.

Thus, the cumulative amount of investment in the first semester of 2010 reached Rp92.9 trillion, or an increase of 39.9 percent compared with that in the same period in 2009 which stood at Rp66.4 trillion.

"Compared with the total investment of Rp160 trillion in 2010, the investment that was achieved in the first semester of this year reached 58.1 percent," Gita said.
