`Six infiltration attempts inside 15 days in Jammu`

New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Almost six infiltration attempts
by militants have been foiled by the Border Security Force
(BSF) in the last fortnight along the international border at
Jammu in northern India, a top officer said Wednesday.
"We have foiled almost six infiltration attempts in the
last fifteen days along the international border. We have
increased the vigil to thwart any such attempt," Inspector
General Border Security Force (BSF) Siddharth Chhatopadhaya
told reporters on the sidelines of an internal security
conference here.
Chhatopadhaya said the BSF has lodged official protests
with the Pakistan Rangers following the incidents.
"We are all concerned about the (infiltration) attempts.
We have taken it up with the Pakistan Rangers," he said.
Given the scenario, the force has positioned more troops
and made available additional weapons and equipment to thwart
such attempts, he said.
Pakistan troops have indulged in nine ceasefire
violations, which officials said were aimed at facilitating
infiltration, this month in which two BSF jawans have been
killed.
The jawans were killed in separate incidents, both in
Chak Phagwari forward belt along the Indo-Pak Border here,
early this month. PTI
