“Give life to children” film

Almaty, July 29, 2010 (Khabar) - A premier of the first Kazakhstan documentary about charity entitled “Give life to children” has been held in Almaty. The “Mercy voluntary society” fund has been operating for four years now in Kazakhstan and its main task is to help children who need surgery which can’t be performed in Kazakhstan. Almost 1.5 million US dollars have been raised throughout this time and 241 children have obtained the right to life. The film features stories of unfortunate families, of children who are no longer on a drip and of those who passed away. Those who donated money, mostly anonymously, for treatment or rather for life are kept anonymous in the film.

Aruzhan Sain, director, “Home” public foundation:
- We really need help as there are more than 80 children who need to have surgery by the end of the year. Aid can be provided in different ways, via texting or visiting our website www.detdom.kz, including through on-line donation with your credit card and you can donate from anywhere in the world and any sum you can.

Diana Tusbayeva was told during her pregnancy that her son had valvular heart disease. The family was urged to turn to the fund while Diana was being discharged from the hospital with her child. They collected all the documents and little Nurbek went off on his first journey to Tomsk practically from the maternity hospital. Cardiologists performed surgery on him at the institute there.

Diana Tusbayeva, Nurbek’s mother:
- I’m grateful to the fund and the sponsors. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have found such money and if you’re born you have to live somehow.

Not a single charity fund will be able to tell how many children in Kazakhstan require urgent surgical intervention for various reasons. They have cardiac pathologies, kidney problems, and cancerous diseases or are hemodialysis-dependent for years. You won’t see these children in the streets as they look at the world out of the windows of their hospital wards. However, people can help them or at least try to.
