Oil theft in Southern Kazakhstan

Shymkent, July 29, 2010 (Khabar) - In Ordabasy district of South Kazakhstan a group of people who engaged in theft of crude oil from the main pipeline KazTransOil was detained.
The suspicion arose among the employees of mobile group of the agency Semser Security who guard the pipeline. Their attention was caught by a petrol station Teriskey that is located near the oil pipe. The inspection conducted jointly with the police of the district, revealed a well-developed mechanism of oil thefta pipe was laid from the illegal incut underground. On the territory of the petrol station oil was pushed into a car tank from the underground oil pump. At the time of arrest forty-ton tank was nearly full. The cost of oil is about one million tenge. However, members of security agencies believe that very much oil was stolen earlier. A criminal case was begun on the theft of oil and six men were placed in a temporary detention facility.

Yerzhan Karsybayev, deputy director of branch of Semser Security LLP:
- This petrol station has been operating for 5 years, and we think that it was built specifically for the organization of oil theft. And judging by the major device illegal tapping, theft was constant. All police confirms this who now conducts the investigation.
