Zillur calls for duty, quota free market access for LDCs

GENEVA, July 24 (BSS) - Commerce Adviser of Bangladesh caretaker government Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman called for duty and quota free market access for least developed countries.

As the Doha Round negotiation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) entered into an important phase, the commerce adviser said this at a meeting of the Trade Negotiation Committee (TNC) and Green Room discussion of the ministers and envoys, anofficial handout said here today.

Lesotho and Bangladesh are representing the LDCs as the coordinator in the four-day negotiation meeting with the tradeand commerce ministers of 35 countries.

Adviser Zillur Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Commerce Minister of Lesotho on July 21. On the next day, he held a bilateral meeting with Commerce Minister of Pakistan Chowdhury Ahmed Moktar and with Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius RamaSithanen yesterday.

Dr Zillur is leading a 15-member delegation comprising government officials, representatives of private researchorganizations and leaders of trade bodies in Geneva.
