GOVT SETS ASSUMPTIONS FOR DRAFT 2011 STATE BUDGET

Jakarta, Aug 14 (ANTARA) - The government has made various assumptions in the draft 2011 state budget to be delivered by the President in his speech to parliament on August 16, 2010.

"That has been decided, there have been preliminary talks with the House of Representatives on them," acting head of fiscal policy of the Finance Ministry, Agus Supriyanto, said here on Saturday.

He said the government set assumptions for economic growth at 6.1-6.4 percent, the rupiah's exchange rate against the dollar at 9,100-9,400, interest rate on Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI) at 6.2-6.5 percent for three-month deposits, oil price at US$75-90 per barrel and oil lifting at 0.967 million liters per day.

Agus said the assumptions would still be discussed in the House of Representatives' Budget Council and in Commission XI, adding that the figures were still predictions.

"As it is difficult to predict real figures we have therefore only set the ranges," he said.

Regarding the rupiah's appreciation against the dollar, Agus said the government used the average rate in reference to the latest period.

"Indeed, it's strengthening but it is still at an average of 9,149 - 9,150 from January to July. It is still within that range," he said, adding that the appreciation is temporary and fluctuating.

He stressed that the government used the average figures, not temporary ones.
