CHINA RANKS 3RD AS BALI`S SOURCE OF FOREIGN TOURISTS
Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, Aug 15 (ANTARA) - China ranked third after Australia and Japan as a source country of foreign tourists visiting Bali in the first half of 2010 with 98,258 tourists, up slightly from 97,930 a year earlier.
All but one Chinese tourist in the first semester came to Bali by direct flights from their country, Head of the Bali Provincial Statistics Office Ida Komang Wisnu said on Saturday.
Chinese tourists were made up of 8.33 percent of the overall tourist arrivals in Bali in the first half of 2010 reaching 1,180,118, a 10.23 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
He said six out of top ten source countries of foreign tourists saw an increase in the number of their citizens visiting Bali in the January-June 2010 period, while the number of tourist arrivals from the other four declined.
The number of tourist arrivals from Australia rose 53.89 percent to 278,049 from 180,686, The Netherlands 40.53 percent to 36,082 from 25,676, Taiwan 13.10 percent to 65,589 from 57,994, Singapore 55.36 percent to 41,483 from 26,702, Britain 2.19 percent to 38,526 from 37,701, and China 0.33 percent to 98,258 from 97,930.
Meanwhile, the number of tourist arrivals from Japan fell 22.29 percent to 119,772 from 154,071, Malaysia 6.23 percent to 69,251 from 73,853, South Korea 5.81 percent to 59,384 from 63,045, and France 7.67 percent to 42,211 from 45,716.
