Bangladesh is an all-weather friend: Chinese FM
DHAKA, Bangladesh, July 25 (BSS) - China considers Bangladesh an "all- weather friend", Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said in Singapore today.
The Chinese minister said this when he met Foreign Adviser Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury on the sidelines of the ASEAN RegionalForum Ministerial Meeting.
The foreign adviser and the Chinese foreign minister covered a wide range of bilateral and regional issues in this meeting,according to a message received here.
Yang Jiechi thanked the foreign adviser for the "very warmreception" he had received during his recent visit to Bangladesh.
The Foreign Adviser told him that Bangladesh views China not only as a friend but also as a very positive "actor in theinternational arena".
The Chinese foreign minister also stated that China would be very pleased to receive Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed on avisit to China soon.
He also appreciated the statement made by Dr Iftekhar in the morning to the Ministerial Conference of the ASEAN RegionalForum.
