Indian Army Chief arrives

DHAKA, Bangladesh, July 28 (BSS) - Indian Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor arrived here Sunday afternoon on a six-day visit toBangladesh.

General Deepak is accompanied by his wife Mrs Kirti Kapoorand a four-member military delegation.

On behalf of Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, Army Quarter Master General Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhuryreceived the Indian Army Chief at the BAF Tarmac in Kurmitola.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pinak Ranjan Chakrabortiwas also present.

General Deepak will place wreaths at the Shikha Anirban inDhaka Cantonment tomorrow morning.

During his stay here, the Indian army chief will make a courtesy call on President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed and alsomeet the three services chiefs at their respective offices.

Besides, he will visit Bijoy Ketan in Dhaka Cantonment, National Museum, Defence Services Command and Staff College, National Defence College, Liberation War Memorial sites in Comilla, Liberation war field, war cemetery and BangladeshMilitary Academy at Bhatiary in Chittagong during the period.

General Deepak Kapoor is expected to leave here on August 1.
