Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj sent Saturday a letter of condolence to D.Medvedev, the President of the Russian Federation, over a deadly terrorist attack that took place in Vladikavkaz city, Russia.
"On behalf of myself and the people of Mongolia I express my deep condolence to You, Mister Medvedev, and to the friendly people of Russia over deaths of many people due to this terrorist attack," the letters states.
"Please convey our sympathies to families and relatives of the killed and to the injured people," Mr. Elbegdorj says in the letter.

The President Ts.Elbegdorj received Mrs. Tamara Chikunova, the founder and head of Mothers Against the Death Penalty and Torture based in Tashkent; and Mr. Stefano Argentino Storino, a coordinator of Italy's Community of Sant'Egidio for human rights affairs for Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
Mrs. Chikunova thanked the President for the audience and said she fully supports the President's moratorium on the capital punishment. She mentioned that all former Soviet Republics, except Belarus, have abolished this kind of penalty.
She expressed a hope that Mongolia will join the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and will alter related laws to eliminate the capital punishment. "I want Ulaanbaatar city to take part in a meeting of the cities for life that will be held this year," she added.
Mr. Storino said their Community of Sant'Egidio delightfully received the news about the President's moratorium and posted it on its website. He pointed out that he also fully supports the President's initiative.
The State Head thanked the human rights activists for visiting Mongolia and for supporting his initiative and expressed a readiness to cooperate with them.

Heads of parliamentary Standing committees on State Structure, on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science O.Enkhtuvshin and D.Arvin have received Mrs. Sezin Sinanoglu, the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Mrs. Sinanoglu said she wants Mongolia's parliament to pay a special attention to a matter on education of electors and gender equality in the law on election.
Heads of the committees underlined that the collaboration between Mongolia and the UNDP have been developing successfully, and pointed out assistance and cooperation with the UN have been significantly contributing to realizing developmental goals of Mongolia. They also appreciated the UN's activities that support the educational and health sectors and a reduction in mortality of mothers and infants.
The Standing committee on state structure will implement a project together with the UNDP in 2010-2011 on ensuring representation and participation through electoral system. In its frames, the committees' leader O.Enkhtuvshin and D.Arvin, D.Odbayar, D.Zagdjav MPs, and advisor to the Premier B.Dolgor will visit Hungary September 12-18 with aims to study experience in tackling electoral disputes and to get au fait with the structure of Hungary's Constitution.

The 11th World University Championships finished September 12 in Zurich city, Switzerland.
Mongolia was represented by B.Gundavaa, international master, G.Erdene, a FIDE master, sports masters G.Monkhgal and G.Orgil--men's team, and by B.Mongontuul, a Grand Master (GM), T.Batchimeg GM, D.Yanjindulam, international master, and U.Lhamsuren, sports master--women' team.
As of the final individual results, B.Mongontuul won a gold medal with 7.0 points. She was followed by Drljevic Ljilja (Serbia) and Guramishvili Sopiko (Georgia). B.Gundavaa IM took 4th place in the men's tournament. The team of Mongolia won a gold medal for the team ranking results followed by Georgia and Russia.
In previous competitions, a Mongolian T.Battsetseg won a bronze medal in the 3rd World University Chess Championship held 1994 in Sofia, Bulgaria. B.Ankhchimeg grabbed a bronze medal from the Championship that took place in 2002 in Ulaanbaatar. Moreover, bronze medals of the World University Championships went to the Mongolian team in 2000, 2002 and 2008.

Judoists of the selected team won Sunday medals in the Judo World Championship which is taking place in Tokyo, Japan.
A State Honored Sportsman Kh.Tsagaanbaatar won a bronze in the men's 66 kg category. Leading the "A" zone, he had a bye at his first round, and defeated opponents from Pakistan, Georgia and Azerbaijan at the next rounds. Then he was beaten by a Japanese judoist at the semi-final contest. At the repechage round, Tsagaanbaatar beat Miklуs Ungvari from Hungary and Sugoi Uriarte (Spain) at the bronze medal match.
An international master of sports M.Bundmaa won a bronze medal in the women's 52 kg contest. She also had a bye at her first round, and defeated her rivals from Spain, Italy and Brazil. M.Bundmaa beat Romi Tarangul of Germany by ippon for the bronze medal.

Five stock trades were held at Mongolia's Stock Exchange (MSE) during the week from September 6 to September 10. In overall, 1.1 million shares of 35 JSCs were sold totaling 689.4 million MNT trade.
Index top-20 was 14220.78 points increasing by 561.09 units, or 4.1%, against the week earlier. The total market capitalization was set at MNT 1,258.6 billion increasing by MNT 108.7 billion or 9.5%.
Shares of "Aduunchuluun" JSC (99.6%), "Shivee ovoo" (86.3%) and "Mogoin gol" (74.9%) were increased, but, "Tushig uul" (14.9%), "Mongol shiltgeen" (12.5%), and "Ulaanbaatar hotel" (11.7%) JSCs were decreased at the MSE. A total of 35 shares were sold. Of them, rate of 15 shares were increased, rate of 16 shares were decreased, and rate of four shares were stable.
Shares of "Hermes center" JSC (503.5 thousand units), "State Department Store" (320.6 thousand units) and "Khokh gan" (128.4 thousand units) JSCs were actively traded in terms of trading volume, but in terms of trading value "Sharyn gol" (MNT 190.7 million), "State Department Store" (MNT 159.4 million) and "Tavan tolgoi" (MNT 110.8 million).
