TENGKU MUHAMMAD FARIS PROCLAIMED AS SULTAN OF KELANTAN

KOTA BAHARU (Malaysia), Sept 13 (Bernama) -- The Regent of Kelantan, Tuanku
Muhammad Faris Petra Ibni Sultan Ismail Petra, was Monday proclaimed as the new
Sultan of Kelantan, effective Monday.

The proclamation was announced by Chief Minister Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat
at the Balairong Seri, Balai Besar Palace, here, at 12.30pm.

Balairong Series, which is a Throne is reserved for official ceremonies and
rituals.

"It is hereby proclaimed, in accordance with Article 29A of the Kelantan
State Constitution, that the Regent of Kelantan shall now ascend the throne to
succeed his father," Nik Aziz said.
