Indian Army Chief Deepak Kapoor passes busy day

DHAKA, Bangladesh, July 29 (BSS) - Visiting Chief of Army Staff of India General Deepak Kapoor passed a busy day here today.

General Deepak laid floral wreaths at the Shikha Anirban this morning to pay homage to the memory of the martyred membersof the Armed Forces during the War of Liberation in 1971.

Later, the Indian Army Chief was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of Army at the Senakunja. Heinspected the guard and took salute.

General Kapoor paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff General Moeen U Ahmed at the Army Headquarters. He remained with the Army Chief for some time and discussed matters relating toprofessional interest.

The Indian Army Chief made a courtesy call on Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam. He remained with the Bangladesh Naval Chief for some time and discussed professionalmatters.

He also met Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahmanand stayed with him for some time.

The Indian Army Chief's visit is aimed to improve bilateral relations and boost military ties between the two neighboringcountries.

General Kapoor, who is leading a four-member delegationarrived here yesterday.

During his stay, General Kapoor will visit Bijoy Ketan at Dhaka Cantonment, National Museum, Defence Services Command and Staff College, National Defence College, Liberation War Memorial sites in Comilla, War Cemetery and Bangladesh Military Academy atBhatiary in Chittagong.

General Deepak Kapoor will leave here for India on August 1.
