MUSTAFA DENIES TO REPLACE TELKOM PRESIDENT DIRECTOR

Jakarta, Sept 20 (ANTARA) - State enterprises minister Mustafa Abubakar denied he would replace president director of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia following a presidential teleconference technical failure recently.

"We have regulations (for replacing a board member). So do not worry. Everything is based upon norms," he said at his office here on Monday.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reprimanded Telkom president director and Telkomsel president director after a teleconference network facility he used for communicating with the Central Java regional police chief during his inspection of the flow of traffic of returning Idul Fitri holiday makers at Cikopo last Friday broke down.

Mustafa said the reprimand had been sent to the Telkom president director.

He said he had summoned the telecommunication operators' board of directors immediately after the incident. "We have also made a report (regarding the problem) to the President," he said.
He however declined to tell about the report. "No it is impossible. It is a letter for the President," he said.

Mustafa clarified that the network used in the presidential teleconference did not belong to Telkomsel. "No. (it is not Telkomsel's network). Later we will explain about it,"he said.

The case triggered speculations about Telkom president director Rinaldi Firmansyah's replacement after the government said it planned to change the formation of the company's board of directors at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting later this month.

The meeting is also scheduled to replace present chairman of the company's board of commissioners, Tanri Abeng.

Mustafa said the selection process on who would be put in the new board had reached the team that would have the final say. ***2***
