Yemen, FAO talk over supporting agricultural projects

SAYON, Sep. 20 (Saba) - Yemen
and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) discussed on Monday means to support
agricultural
projects in Hadramout governorate.
Hadramout Undersecretary for Wadi and Desert Affairs Umair Mubarak held talks with
representatives of FAO the possibility to establish some small agricultural and
livestock
projects in Wadi and desert of Hadramout.
Mubarak showed the FAO representatives the progress of the government programs and
projects to support affected people due to the floods the hit the governorate in
2008
in addition to government's efforts to compensate them financially and in-kind.
He voiced the government's welcome to the any organization wants to work together
to assist the affected people. He made reference to the damage in the agricultural
area,
saying that about 500,000 palms have been swept away and thousands of beehives as well.
FAO officials talked about the programs the organization could carry out to set up
some projects and support the framers, expressing their admiration of the local
authority
role in tackling the disaster's repercussions.
