PROTON UNVEILS SPORTY SATRIA NEO IN INDONESIA, AIMS TO SELL 30 UNITS IN THREE MONTHS

By Ahmad Fuad Yahya

JAKARTA, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's national carmaker, Proton, introduced
Satria Neo CPS, featuring a sporty facelift and speed performance on par with a
sports car to the Indonesian sports car fans on Monday.

It aims to sell 30 units of the sporty model in the last three months of this year.

Soon after the launch by Proton Edar Indonesia President Director Ricky Too at
Mall Kelapa Gading 2 in north Jakarta late Monday evening, at least one unit was
booked.

The 1.6cc car, powered by Campro CPS DOHC 16-valve engine, offers more
responsive power and is fuel efficient. It uses Variable Intake Manifold (VIM)
technology.

Proton Neo, first introduced in Indonesia in 2007, received overwhelming
response from car enthusiasts and the significant selling point of the new model
is the Campro CPS (Cam Profile Switching) engine.

Proton Edar Indonesia marketing general manager Mazlan Mohd Zain said the
introductory offer price was Rp188 million for the manual version and Rp198
million for the automatic model.

He said Neo CPS was specially targeted to high-performance car buffs.

Proton Edar Indonesia aims to sell 3,500 units of various proton models in
Indonesia in the financial year ending March 2011.

As of August this year, 1,500 units have been sold, with 60 per cent of the cars
are Exora manual version.

Other models sold in Indonesia are Savvy, Gen 2, Gen 2 Persona, Waja, Wira,
Saga, Persona Elegance and Exora President.

Proton Satria Neo Super2000 rally car driver Chris Atkinson and Puteri Indonesia
2009 Qori Sandioriva were present at the launch.

The event ended with a performance demonstration by Atkinson on a Satria Neo S2000.

The 31-year-old Australian displayed his excellent driving and manoeuvring
skills on a Neo S2000 in a narrow parking space, bringing with him 17 passengers
comprising Indonesian journalists on a rotation basis.
