VP TO ATTEND BUSINESS FORUM IN NEW YORK

Jakarta, Sept 21 (ANTARA) - Vice President Boediono will meet tens of American corporate leaders at a business forum to take place on September 23, 2010 in New York, USA.

"At that meeting the vice president will be leading an Indonesian delegation and also meet former US President Bill Clinton and 20-30 American corporate leaders, the head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Gita Wirjawan, said here Tuesday at in the vice president's office.

Gita made the statement after he, and Djauhari Oratmangun, the froeign ministry's director general for ASEAN-Indonesia affairs, met the Vice President at the latter's office.

The Indonesian delegation led by Boediono would leave for the USA on September 22-26, 2010.

According to Gita, the forum in New York would be divided into two groups. The first one would be a round table meeting attended by Boediono , Bill Clinton and y 10-20 corporate leaders.

Entrepreneurs with a technological background focused on environmental issues would meet Boediono for about one hour to discuss investment opportunities in Indonesia.

"In this group there will be discussion on increasing investment in Indonesia," Gita said.

In the second group on the same day, Gita said, there would be a business forum attended by 21 prominent corporate leaders from the USA focused on the oil and gas, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors.

"Among these entrepreneurs there will be those who are already doing business in Indonesia on a big or small scale but there will also be those who have never operated in Indonesia but have expressed interest to do so," Gita said.

Gita said the target of the business forum was to increase American investment in Indonesia which was now in the group of the five biggest.

"Realizated American investment in Indonesian in the first semester of this year has remained in the group of the five biggest," Gita said.

Gita said Vice President Boediono's presence at the business forum was expected to have a positive impact on the American entrepreneurs' perception about investment opportunities in Indonesia.

"This business forum will be an important moment for us to convince US entrepreneurs that the investment opportunities in Indonesia are quite prospective and able to compete with such other Asian countries as Vietnam and China," Gita said.***2***
