VP BOEDIONO NOT TO MEET WITH MALAYSIAN PM

New York, Sept 23 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Boediono has no agenda to meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak on the sidelines of an ASEAN-US summit here.

"Vice President Boediono is not scheduled to have a special meeting with the Malaysian prime minister to discuss various bilateral issues on the sidelines of the ASEAN-US summit here," his spokesman, Yopie Hidayat, told newsmen here on Wednesday night.

Yopie Hidayat said that although Indonesia-Malaysia relations recently heated up over manpower and border issues, the vice president was of the opinion it was not necessary to discuss them with the Malaysian leader on the sidelines of the ASEAN-US summit in New York.

He said the recent Indonesia-Malaysia foreign ministers' meeting in Kinibalu, Malaysia, was already the beginning of a process to settle the issues so there was no need to discuss them again with the Malaysian prime minister.

"There certainly are problems between Indonesian and Malaysia but I think they need not be discussed here," Yopie said.

He added that it was not proper for Indonesia and Malaysia to discuss their border and manpower issues on the sidelines of the ASEAN-US summit.

"It is not necessary to discuss the issues between Indonesia and Malaysia in the United States. If ever we have a problem, we can discuss it any other time," Yopie said.

He said Vice President Boediono was scheduled to attend a breakfast meeting with ASEAN leaders on Friday morning and then at 1 in the afternoon the vice president would attend the ASEAN-US summit.

The summit will be opened by US President Barack Obama and then the ASEAN leaders, including Vice President Boediono, will alternately deliver a speech.

Before attending the ASEAN-US summit, Vice President Boediono will have a discussion with former US President Bill Clinton and 15 CEOs of various companies to discuss environmentally-friendly technology.

The Indonesian vice president arrived in New York on Wednesday or early Thursday in Indonesia to attend the ASEAN-US summit which will take place on September 24, 2010. ***4***
