Baku hosts fifth microfinance conference

Baku, October 5 (AzerTAc). The fifth Microfinance Conference on Responsible Microfinance kicked off in Baku.
Executive Director of Azerbaijan Microfinance Association (AMFA) Jala Hajiyeva informed the participants on the current state of microfinance in Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of such conferences.
Ziyad Samadzadeh, Milli Majlis economic policy standing commission chief, noted microfinance development is linked with economic expansion in the regions.
Mammad Musayev, President of Azerbaijan National Confederation of Employers` (Entrepreneurs) Orgnizations (AEK), underscored the need to increase microcrediting portfolio of AMFA members.
The discussions focused on a number of issues including microfinance and legislation, Islamic banking, social accounting, micro insurance of agriculture and world practice.
On the first day of the event, winners were awarded in “the member of the year-2010” and “the specialist of the year-2010” nominations.
Representatives of foreign microfinance organizations attended the conference.
