Toyota, Honda to recall 4,000 vehicles in S. Korea

SEOUL, Oct. 25 (Yonhap) -- Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. are set
to recall some 4,000 vehicles in South Korea for possible leaks of brake fluid
that may lead to a failure of a vehicle's braking system, market sources said
Monday.
The voluntary move comes as the automakers have already been ordered to recall
their vehicles sold in other parts of the world for the same problem, they said.
According to Toyota Korea, the affected vehicles are about 3,400 units of Lexus
GS 330, RX 330 and IS 200 models produced between May 2002 and March 2006.
Honda Korea is also expected to recall some 590 units of its luxury passenger
vehicle Legend that were manufactured between September 2004 and February 2007.
The vehicles to be recalled are said to have the same faulty brake parts from a
single supplier.
"The problem is caused by a loss of brake fluid from the brake master cylinder,
which could lead to a failure of the braking system," a market observer said.
No related accidents have yet been reported in South Korea. Both Toyota and Honda were expected to notify the transportation ministry later Monday of their decision to voluntarily recall the subject vehicles.
