Saleh directs Govt to encourage productive families

SANA'A, Jan.13 (Saba)- President
Ali Abdullah Saleh attended on Wednesday the First National Conference of
Associations
and Productive Families held in Sana'a.
At the conference, organized by the National Authority for Rising Awareness in
cooperation with Al-Saleh Social Foundation for Development and Awn Foundation for
Development,
President Saleh delivered a speech, wishing that the conference would come up with
useful outcomes.
In his speech, Saleh directed the government to encourage craft associations
through buying their products and to support activities of these associations and
productive
families by all means.
In this regard, Saleh issued his directives to Prime Minister to purchase all
contents of products exhibition of the associations and productive families, which
is held
on the sidelines of this conference.
He noted that countries like China, Syria and other countries of the world have
began with simple and light industries until they reached medium and heavy
industries.
The current products, albeit modest, would evolve if they found support and
encouragement by the government agencies, Saleh pointed out emphasizing the
importance of purchasing
the local craft products instead of buying foreign products.
"It is a pity that we buy foreign products rather than local, at the time we
complain that we have unemployment and poverty", said Saleh.
Saleh wondered" Why we do not encourage these productive families and the local
craft products? Why the private sector does not enter in partnership with these
associations?".
President Saleh prodded the government to help these associations by giving them
soft loans through Yemeni banks to encourage them to produce.
In this regard, Saleh instructed the government to rehabilitate the Textile
Factories in both Sana'a and Aden in cooperation with the private sector as a
partner and involving
these associations in these factories.
He noted the importance of the private sector's role in encouraging and promoting
the local industries.
"Let's open sound credits for raw materials and make our needs within the country",
said Saleh pointing out that there is no impossible.
He directed Ministry of Industry and Trade to do its duty to protect the local
products through preventing the import of similar goods, emphasizing the keenness
to provide
all support and facilities for the associations and productive families in all
circumstances.
Moreover, President Saleh opened, on the sidelines of the conference, the products
exhibition of association and productive families and toured its sections.
He expressed his admiration for what he saw from national craft products, which
reflect the large stocks of the national heritage in Yemen, affirming that they
would receive
all care and encouragements.
