Deputy Head of Tax committee arrested for corruption
announced the arrest of the deputy head of the Almaty Tax committee,Nurgaliyev for receiving thirty thousand US dollar as a bribe.
He received this money from the representative of a company in the city for providing help. Now, investigators of the National Security Committee are to investigate Nurgaliyev's connection to similar cases. The accused is now being held on remand. According to officers of the criminal investigation department, Nurgaliyev had letters of resignation in his office from all the staff of tge Almalinskiy district Tax Committee where he used to work as a representative all of which were undated. Investigators believe that the accused tried to cover himself so that if one of his staff was caught accepting a bribe, he could say that this person no longer works for thestate organisation.
Kairzhan Kamzayev, chief investigator, Almaty National Secure Committee Department: - During a search of Nurgaliyev's flat, CID officers found a total of 130 thousand US dollars, 20 thousand euros and 850 thousand tenge. Additionally, 400 thousand US dollars and 308 thousand euros were seized from his depositaccount. In total, over 1 million US dollars was seized from Nurgaliyev.
